SOL y LUNA Mail offers the possibility to send or receive in Mexico parcels and packages to/from the USA, Canada or anywhere in the world. However all parcels will go through our gateway in Laredo, TX.

WHAT IS A "PARCEL" , WHAT IS "IMPORTATION ?

It's a package which weight  do not exceed 20lbs (9 kg) and which  girth* is below 48".  We call "Importation" any package above these maximum weight and size

WHAT DO WE USE TO CALCULATE THE COST OF A PARCEL OR  AN IMPORTATION ?

The value at customs, which can be the value you paid to the vendor or the value you consider the item has. In both cases Mexican or US Customs can apply a value of theirs if they consider that the one that is given by you is underestimated. This rarely applies but it has to be considered when putting the value on your pro-forma invoice. The value at customs is used to calculate the "customs duties" if any has to be applied.

Value at customs + custom duties = taxable value .

The IVA (15%) will finally be applied to this taxable value.

The origin of theproduct: the place where the item was made will serve to determine if customs duties apply or not and at what rate. In Mexico most of the goods made in the US, Canada, UE, Chile etc... do not pay customs duties. Products from China, Argentina, Russia etc  are in general subject to customs duties ranging from 1 to 20%. The US and Canada have less customs duties on foreign products that what Mexico imposes.

The nature of the product is needed to determine if the product is allowed or not to importation.

The weight and the girth are used to calculate the transportation cost when above the weight and size of a parcel.

TYPE OF SERVICES:

Incoming parcels and importations:your packages are received in our warehouse in Laredo and are brought by land freight to Ajijic. Average transit time between arrival of the package in Laredo and its reception in Ajijic or PV is of 5 to 7 business days.

Outgoing parcels: we receive your packages in our facilities in Ajijic or PV and we can :

- ship by land freight to Laredo and from Laredo by USPS.( convenient for parcels)

- ship by land freight to Laredo and from Laredo by a Courier of your choice ( UPS, Fedex, DHL). ( convenient for parcels and bigger packages if you have an account with a courier company)

- ship by courier directly from Ajijic or PV to its final destination.( convenient for most bigger packages).

- ship by land freight from Ajijic or PV to the final destination ( slower and sometimes cheaper depending on the destination).

*girth is the sum of the lenght + (2 x width) + ( 2 x height).
